4 Days & 3 Nights Hong Kong, Macau and Shenzhen for 13K

It was a holiday in the Philippines last February 25 so my friend Anelo and I decided to go to Hong Kong for 4 days (filed a vacation leave on the 26th, winks!). Hong Kong is a small country and we've both been there twice before, so our goal this time is to explore Macau and Shenzhen. Normally, we don't travel with package tour but since we're going to Shenzhen and the only way we can get a visa is through a Hong Kong agency so we obliged. Here is our itinerary. :)

And our total expenses:

Details of our trip and how we managed to spend so little in 4 days:

Ticket
We booked our ticket via Cebu Pacific last August during a promo fare for only Php 2,220.00. Cheap right? We'll we slept around 2AM for that. All for the sake of budget traveling.

Tour Package & Shenzhen Visa
A travel agency who initially offered us a tour package for only Php5k. This includes 2 nights Hong Kong hotel accommodation, day tour in Macau, 1 night Shenzhen hotel, city tours in Hong Kong and Shenzhen and Shenzhen Visa. But then they have to exclude the Macau tour as our schedule is very tight. We end up paying only Php3,500 for the whole package minus Macau day tour. Still very cheap considering that the hotels we stayed were all 3-star hotels with buffet breakfast. Achieved!

Food
We didn't spend much on the food because we brought cup noddles, biscuits, almond snickers and gum on this trip (well, we always does anyway). We had biscuits and chocolates for lunch then cup noddles and tea for dinner plus lots of water in between. This is what we call #traveldiet. And besides, we have our fats to burn. hahaha!

Places we've visited in each country:

Macau
When we went to Macau, we only shelled out money for the roundtrip ferry. Once we got there, we hopped into a free shuttle bus of Wynn Hotel and walked to The Ruins of St. Paul. We had our snacks at the free tastes along the way. Then another free shuttle bus going to Taipa  and back to ferry terminal. I now call Macau as the land of free rides and free tastes. :)

Hong Kong Tour
We skipped our free Hong Kong tour included in our package as we've already been to one previously. Instead, we went to the spots less know to tourists like Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery, Lei Cheng Uk Han Tomb Museum, Dr. Sun Yat Sen Museum and HK Zoological and Botanical Garden. To end our Hong Kong tour, we went to Clock Tower for some picturesque view of Hong Kong at night. We went back to the hotel because it's freaking cold outside. We need some hot shower! :)

Shenzhen, China
We were part of a group tour (which I think sucks especially for spontaneous people like us but we have no choice) going to Shenzhen and was greeted by our beautiful guide Lengleng. We visited their City Hall with the Wax Museum inside, then to Jade Factory and Bamboo Fabric Factory. We had a sumptuous lunch at a Chinese restaurants. Lengleng offered us a lunch and dinner package for Php 500. We regretted that we didn't book the Window of the World beforehand as we ended up paying more to Lengleng but it's all good as we enjoyed the WOTW tour. Had dinned to the same restaurant and went straight to our hotel. We skipped the whole shopping part as we also didn't plan on buying anything there. After a little rest, we took a stroll around the hotel as there are two malls and a supermarket then back to hotel to sleep. The following day, Lengleng picked us up at the hotel to take us back to Hong Kong airport via an arranged van. Bye baby girl Lengleng! :)

So that sums up our whole trip. It was short and tiring but we still very much enjoyed it. For first time tourists, I don't suggest this kind of itinerary as there are lots of more fun things that you can do in Hong Kong like shopping in City Gate Mall or Night Market, trying the extreme rides in Ocean Park or visiting Disneyland if you are traveling with kids. 'Till my next blog! :D
